I took a bus 1 hour north of Auckland to a little beach town called Orewa- it was well worth it! My perfect day trip consisted of wandering the long, wide, shell covered beach, floating out in the ridiculously warm water (I think it's fed by hot springs..) hiking through the dense green forest to hidden little coves, exploring the small town, and finishing off the day with yummy fish and chips on the beach for sunset.. jealous yet..? ;)
