I went to a traditional hangi (feast cooked on hot rocks under the ground for 8 hours) in a forest maori village, 30min outside of Rotorua- it was awesome!!
This is the 'welcoming' ceremony.. they are deciding if we are friend or foe.. only by the song of a woman's voice will we be allowed to enter the village.
They demonstrated all their traditional skills.

Beautiful setting...the smell of wood smoke filled the air.. so great.
