Lauren and I did a two-day trip to Fraser island, off the east coast of Australia. It is one of only a couple places in the world where rain forest grows out of a sand island. We explored this gorgeous island of broad white beaches and dense green foliage on a 4WD vehicle. So fun! These first pictures are of a huge shipwreck.

I am about to eat a basically live creature straight from the sand...oh yes, living on the edge!

Fraser Island freeway... :)

We
trekked across dunes (basically the
equivalent of the
Sahara) to get to the emerald green Lake
Wabby. :) Well worth it!

Beach at dusk...we were about to see the darkest sky and most impressive display of stars i have ever seen!

Our night of pool at the beach bar. (being the only
Americans..of course we were the resident experts...yikes!)

One of the many walks through the 'bush', i.e. gorgeous
rainforest!

Seriously...how huge is that
staghorn plant??!! These were everywhere, probably kill someone if it fell off a tree! :)

Fraser Island is full of pristine freshwater lakes..this was Lake
Birrabeen.

The mud on the bottom of the lake
supposedly had
therapeutic properties... free spa facial!! (or cruel tour guide joke...hmm.)

How gorgeous is the water!!? It looked like tropical waters!
